Book Club

Anyone who knows me is aware of my book worm status. After all, my mother did go into labor with me at the library! My parents did a phenomenal job of stressing the importance of reading. We did everything from daily trips to the Clearwater library to racking up all the stars possible in the Pizza Hut book challenge.

One of my favorites days each month is when my book club convenes to chat about our latest read (and to eat some yummy food). I served as the host this month and we discussed The Postmistress by Sarah Blake. We celebrated Tres de Mayo (the pre-cursor to Cinco do Mayo) and of course Margie showed up dressed for the occasion!

Here's a list of all the books we have read.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Same Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore

Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay

South of Broad by Pat Conroy

Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

The Ruins by Scott Smith

The Postmistress by Sarah Blake

I highly recommend taking time this summer to spend an afternoon in quiet corner at the library or checking out some jewels at a local bookstore. Here are my favorite local bookstores in Jackson and Birmingham:
