Every night I try to play at least one of the songs below for baby boy James.
1. " Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor. I've loved James Taylor ever since I went to one of his concerts almost 10 years ago. Plus you can never escape "Carolina on My Mind" when you live in North Carolina! Needless to say we are thrilled to have a sweet baby James of our own.
2. "Blackbird" by The Beatles. Favorite line: "All your life/You were only waiting for this moment to arise."
3. "Blessed by Elton John. My father sent me this song during my first trimester.
"You haven't walked yet
Your first words have yet to be said
But I swear you'll be blessed
I know you're still just a dream
your eyes might be green
Or the bluest that I've ever seen
Anyway you'll be blessed"
4. "Danny's Song" by Loggins & Messina. Okay, let's face it. This song is probably the cheesiest song on this list! I saw Kenny Loggins (yes, the Kenny Loggins who did "Footloose" and "Danger Zone") at the Hollywood Bowl back in 2006. Who knew the man had so many hits?!
5. "Songbird" by Fleetwood Mac OR Eva Cassidy. I love every single verse of this song!
6. "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles.
7. "The Book of Love" by Peter Gabriel. This song may be more appropriate for weddings but it always reminds me of the finale of the show "Scrubs". Makes me cry every time! Scrubs Finale
8. "Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel" by Billy Joel.
What other songs should I add to the playlist?
Baby needs a serious dose of rock and roll. Begin with Elvis, skip ahead to The Ramones, add in some Bruce and see me for the rest of it.
