Disney's marketing theme this year is "Let the Memories Begin". Commercials remind viewers of childhood memories their parents created by taking them to Disney and suggest it's time to start those memories with their own children. Our family was fortunate to grow up 90 minutes from Disney World. I have countless memories of loading up in the station wagon to make the trip to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios), and Typhoon Lagoon. Ryan later worked at the Magic Kingdom so we spent many visits watching him perform in the parade or dance in front of the castle as part of the Kids of the Kingdom show. Some of my favorite childhood memories include riding It's a Small World, eating a chocolate and vanilla Mickey ice cream, and begging my father for a Mickey balloon on our way out of the park.
Ricky is a HUGE Disney fan so it surprised everyone that we made it this long before we took Henry to the Magic Kingdom. We couldn't have planned a better day to visit. The temperature was in the low 70s and we didn't wait in any line more than 5 minutes. There was a 70% chance of rain but we happened to be inside the two times in rained.
The entire day truly was magical. I felt like a little kid again as we Mickey appeared on the train to open the park. My heart swelled hearing Henry's laughter on the carousel and seeing how big his eye opened watching all of figures in It's a Small World. The trip was made even better by sharing the experience with father. We certainly missed our other family members but know there will be many family Disney trips in the future!
In addition to all of the great attractions, we decided to make the trip to Disney even more special by having Henry's hair cut for the first time. We went to the barber shop on Main Street. They were wonderful and gave Henry Mickey stickers, Mickey ears that say 1st Haircut, and a certificate with his name and the barber's name on it.
We can't wait to visit Disney again!
